May 8, 2022 Update - DAY 4
I Really Do Get By With A Little Help From My Friends
If you are asking yourself, "what's with the picture?", again you may need to catch up on some 80's/90's pop culture.
When we chose the name of the blog, we did so knowing the this was not going to be a solo journey. Like most things in life, the better your support team, network or cheer squad, the better your chances of success. From the logistics and "concrete" end of things to the emotional and morale boosting side, your team takes things off your plate so you can focus on what the priority is. When you are at your lowest point, feeling like you can't go on, your team is there to lift you up and give you energy and inspiration when you had nothing left.
We knew that. It only made sense. But we never truly understood or grasped the concept in it's entirety or magnitude. Until we experienced it.
On any journey like this, Jackie is going to have highs and lows, good days and not so good (rough) days. We have already seen first hand the support that is there from Jackie's team. Often it is not the grandiose gestures that have the most profound effect, it is the small, sometimes minute ones that seem insignificant that impact more than anyone would imagine.
We have many, many more examples of these small gestures and the folks behind them, but like Jackie's journey, this blog is not a sprint but a marathon. I will be adding pictures and more stories as we go.
On a side note...If you are leaving a note or comment on a post, please let us know who you are if that is ok. We have received some amazing comments but have now idea who you are. - thx!
Jackie has steadily been feeling better the past few days. Her care team has been able to get relieve many of her symptoms. Her nausea has passed and she has been maintaining a normal temperature. We are hoping the immediate treatment symptoms are over and are getting ready for the after effects from the chemo. Jackie has already been experiencing decreased saliva production. This will manifest in a sore throat, dry mouth, difficulty swallowing and eventually lead to multiple sores in her mouth and throat. We have be told to expect this as well as some other issues to peak around DAY 14.
Question: Who has two thumbs and loves all of her family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances?
This gal.
