May 30, 2022 Update - DAY 26
My apologies in advance for the lack of wit and upbeatness of today's post. It has been a rough few days as things have somewhat stagnated. In a way that is good, but creates a feeling of being stuck in limbo.
Jackie's blood cell counts continue to move in the right direction which is awesome, but the focus of her assessments and treatments have now shifted to her Graft vs Host Disease (GVHD). When I say stagnated, I am referring to the GVHD. Some symptoms have improved while others have gotten worse. Jackie has been dealing with a plethora of GI issues as we have indicated previously and those have seemed to have increased. Her nausea has gotten to point where she has been unable to eat anything for several days (except for some homemade jello). She has been able to drink water, gatorade and gingerale. With very little caloric intake, she has had next to no energy. She definitely needed to spend the weekend in bed, but was awake long enough yesterday to get two movies in. It must have be J.Lo day on whatever channel she was watching.
We had a productive meeting with her primary doctor this morning and her care team has responded quickly with different treatments. She is also starting IV nutrition tonight and is going for a scope tomorrow. They need to look inside of her GI system to see if it is the Crohn's Disease or of it is the GVHD or a combination that is causing all her nausea and discomfort.
Despite a prolonged rough spell, we are trying our darnedest to stay optimistic. The response from her care team this morning felt promising.
We will leave it there for today. I will post again in a few days to let everyone know how tomorrow goes.
Thanks again for all the support, positive energy and well wishes.
Thanks for reading
Mike

DeleteHola to you both. Since we have been getting you updates in our mail I have not been responding and I really wanted to today and figured it out. So many people here that are friends of Ken and Yvonne are praying for all of you and sending all our good Karma to try and lift you all up. We talked with Jackie’s mom a little bit ago and gave her a big phone hug. Hope you can feel all our collective hugs coming from Baja. We love you guys!
