Aug 1, 2022 Update - Day 89
Hello all,
As Mike referenced on the last blog, we were able to move into a very nice condo sponsored by a not for profit organization. They work with other organizations and partners to provide a home away from home for cancer patients and their families. The place that we are in is so conducive to rest and recovery. The condo is truly a home away from home and as we have been away from our home since Easter, this has been a much needed place to rejuvenate. We have been very lucky to be given this opportunity and it is another example of how much kindness there is in our world. We will be staying here until we return home which is looking to be the weekend of Aug 13/14th.
I can't believe that I will be released from Calgary so soon but prior to discharge there are a couple more tests that are needing to be done. This Thursday is another bone marrow biopsy to see how my stem cells have engrafted in my bone marrow and next Tuesday is an ultrasound to check out my spleen. The doctors are not expecting any issues with these tests. It does make me feel good when I have seen a number of my inpatient doctors at the outpatient clinic and everyone of them has made the comment on how good I am doing. I will be heading to Edmonton with the central venous catheter (CVC - line that runs into my heart) and a large number of meds that most BMT transplant patients are weaned off by now but I've only been out of the hospital for 3 weeks and it will take time to wean off of the immunosuppressant medications. I am also very thankful we live in Canada and have medication coverage. I just refilled a month of a med that was $4234.00. Crazy hey!
Here are some photos of our new home:
Next post should be from home (fingers crossed)! Have a good summer everyone!
